Colorado is an iconic state. From the glorious mountains on the horizon to the hardy, energetic people in your community, some things that are just a normal part of life for Colorado natives. If you call this glorious state you’re home, you’ll definitely recognize these four signs you’re from Colorado.
You have no problem with altitude
No one wants to deal with altitude sickness, and thankfully you don’t have to. While most states are sitting at sea-level, many of Colorado’s cities are soaring in the sky. The higher elevation means we’re used to the thin air—this gives us a natural advantage over tourists visiting the mountains.
You hit the slopes regularly
For much of the country, skiing down a mountain is an extravagant, once-in-a-lifetime vacation. For Coloradoans, it’s a regular afternoon. Living so close to the mountains means you know all the best places to go to avoid the crowds and get some quality time on the mountainside. If you own your own skis, hit the slopes before work, or your car came with a ski rack pre-installed, chances are you’re from Colorado.
Humidity? What’s humidity?
Speaking of the weather, no matter what time of year it is, it’s always dry. Have you ever been to another state and wondered why the air was too thick to breathe? Fortunately, humidity just doesn’t exist in Colorado. Unfortunately, this means every trip to a humid state makes you feel gross.
You never pack away your snow boots (or your flip flops)
One of the signs you’re from Colorado is that you know how unpredictable the weather is. A blizzard on Monday can easily mean a gorgeous, sunny afternoon on Wednesday—and both can happen no matter what month of the year it is. That’s why you don’t bother storing your winter clothes when summer hits, or vice versa. Your snow boots sit happily next to your flip flops—depending on the day, you might just need both.
Many things set Coloradoans apart from the rest of the country. Show off your state pride with some of our Colorado apparel and enjoy being some of the most adventurous, fun-loving folks in the nation.
